Description

He suddenly just stopped. Norway was halfway and he started to hesitate. He could either go back or go to det evige fristedet. He felt no matter what he chose, it would both be right and wrong.

I made a pic out of a fanfic of mine "Save us from the plague"

Pesta is a personification of the black death in Norwegian folk religion. She was a hooded figure, an old woman, walking around from farm to farm. She carried a broom and a rake. If she used the broom, everybody would die, if she used the rake, some would survive.

There were sagn(tales) about her. One sagn about how she came was about a ferryman rowing his boat as he saw someone on land wanting a ride. He was rowing towards the person, he saw it was an old woman, but noticed it was not any common old woman, it was Pesta! With a shaky voice he said he could row her over, but to spare him from the black death. Pesta looked down on her big book sha carried and answered he would not get away but he would die a peaceful death. She came onboard on the otherside of the boat and the ferryman rowed her over. When he came home, he felt exhausted. He layed down and fell asleep, but never woke up again.

Pesta is a terrifying figure, and so many in Norway died of plague, yet it's fascinating it got it's own personification.
I adore Norwegian folklore and myths and culture and this artwork is simply wonderful, great job!
